Hey all, just a reminder that we wacky kids from the Cartoonist Conspiracy San Francisco will have our CAM-JAM #1 this Sunday Feb 21, 2010. This is our first Comic Jam with our friends at the Cartoon Art Museum Bookstore of 2010 and we will feature the themes of Brush and Ink/Superhero and Samurai.

It’s an all day experience that will challenge us to create a mini-comic by the end of day.

Here’s what’s happening… (also visit our blog at the Cartoonist Conspiracy SF blog.)

Where: Lobby of the Cartoon Art Museum, 655 Mission St. San Francisco CA

When: Sunday February 21, 2010 – 11:30 am to 5:30 pm

Feel free to bring printouts/clippings of inspiration based on this sessions themes to share.

Set up to draw. Take a break for a quick lunch or snack.

12:30 pm Start the Comic Jam!

We will break into small teams of 2-4 artists who will be tasked with creating a short 2-8 page comic using the themes of the event. Card stock will be provided to draw on and some ink and brushes to try, but feel free to bring your favorite tools too.

A few volunteers will be helping us to scan pages when your team finish one, so we should be able to get the work on-line/printed faster then last year.

4:30 pm STOP

While any last pages are quickly prepped/scanned to make copies, the group will work on the final cover.

Everyone cleans up! Shop at the bookstore!

A team of expert copiers will jet on over to the copy store while any remaining artist will help vote on their favorite Warm-Up Jam drawings that are now displayed on the Bookstore Wall. There might be a possible prize as well.

5:00 pm ish Book arrive for you to take home with samples of everyone’s work. **

** Each artist can get copy(s) of the final Mini-Comic at cost; a few extra copies will be available at the bookstore for a full price as our way of helping this wonderful non-profit museum out.

++ (Legal stuff) By participating in the Jam you are giving permission for your work to be placed on-line by the Cartoonist Conspiracy San Francisco and that a limited number of books can be sold as a fundraiser for the Cartoon Art Museum through its bookstore. Every effort to give credit and promote the participants will be made.

Random Numbers will be given by anyone who did the Warm-Up and we will go in order with each person taking an original drawing home.

5:30 go out for food/drink and schmooze, draw more, network, have fun.

Results of the last CCSF Comic Jam of the Year 2009

Art Trade art from the CCSF

On Dec 10, 2009 we the Cartoonist Conspiracy San Francisco held our last Comic Book Jam of the year. It’s been an interesting and exciting year for our group with an expanded 24 Hour Comic Book Day event arranged by Doc Pop and group collaborations that took us outside of our regular bi-monthly Thursday Night meeting times. Many members of the group have also been expanding there work into new areas including video games and art prints.

For this last comic jam we had our second annual Cheap Ass White Elephant Gift Exchange with all sorts of cool surprises. The group also was inspired by artist Rick Lucy to do an art trade. Each drawing is on a small sheet of drawing paper and were handed out randomly once a mass of them were created. We then started traded them and created additional new ones too. It was a huge success.

Dec 10th, 2009 – Last Thursday Night Comic Jam of the Year (Cheap Ass White Elephant Gift Exchange)

we're going post-it note crazy! As the year comes to an end we gather one last time (officially) to create comics, cartoons and arts. As always we will be getting together at the Church St. Café (info below).

We will do the Cheap Arse White Elephant Gift Exchange again this year, but the difference is that the only rule is “Don’t give anything that you would not like to get yourself.” The idea is to find a graphic novel/artist material/gourmet cookies/ etc. that you don’t want anymore, but is very cool. Wrap it in a fedex envelope, newspaper or some other free wrapping material. Bring them to the Jam and at about 7:30 we will take turns picking out a new gift. Fun fun fun!

We are also encouraging members to invite new folks, artist or not, to come and collaborate with us.

INFO:

The Jam runs from 6:30 on September 10th and all artist are invited to attend. So bring your favorite drawing tools and come on down and draw
a spell. Hey even better bring a friend or two!

Thursday Night Comic Jam in San Francisco, October 29, 2009.

CCSF San Francisco comic jams

Well, it’s time for another Comic Jam at the Church St. Café this Thursday Oct 29, 2009 from 6:30 to 9ish. So bring your favorite materials and come make comics and art.

This week we can discuss ‘what we learned from APE 2009’ as well as share some of the goodies we picked up.

I think it would also be cool to work on a comic that would tie into the magic of the upcoming holiday season. I have an ulterior motive that I hopefully can talk about next week and I think a book that we can sell during the festivities.
