Cartozia Tales Kickstarter — now with more rewards!

A Kickstarter campaign is underway for Cartozia Tales, an all-ages fantasy series based on a collaboratively-created map. The comics in the anthology are filled with imaginative creatures, memorable characters, secret messages and fantastical landscapes. It has been incredibly fun to work on, and the contributors’ enthusiasm really shows in the final product. Our regular contributors are Sarah Becan, Lucy Bellwood, Isaac Cates, Shawn Cheng, Tom Motley, Mike Wenthe, Jen Vaughn and me, Lupi. Each issue also contains stories by FABULOUS GUEST ARTISTS, including Dylan Horrocks, Jon Lewis, James Kochalka, Adam Koford, Kevin Cannon, and more.

The vicuñicorn: invented by Adam Koford, named by Mike Wenthe, and drawn by me.

Read more about the project, our process, and the guest artists we have lined up for the next couple issues.

For a pledge of only $28, you can get a full color 8×10 print of one of our covers or promo images.

For $36, you get an original custom watercolor portrait on a trading card from ME!

Also, digital subscriptions are now being offered as a reward, for those of you who don’t want to pay for shipping, or don’t have a lot of room on your shelves for books. Great option for readers outside the U.S.!

Pre-order Cartozia Tales

For the last few months, I have been lucky enough to work on Cartozia Tales, an awesome new indy comics project.

Cartozia is a quirky fantasy world created collaboratively by a group of cartoonists with runaway imaginations. Each issue will contain 9 all-ages stories set in different sectors of a map (see below; art by Sarah Becan). You can read more about the process and the contributors at

VOTE for next year’s featured artist!

Here are the featured artist nominees for next year‘s comic art show. They are all awesome, and I wish they could all win, but…well, we have to choose just one. Voting will take place on the conspiracy message board. The poll will be open for 7 days.

Please only vote if you intend to participate in the project. Note that you do NOT have to be a resident of Minnesota to submit work to the 2013 project.

Britt Sabo
Xeric-winning cartoonist!

From her website:
“After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) in 2007, she went on to co-author and draw Francis Sharp in the Grip of the Uncanny! with her friend Anna Bratton. Dan Murphy
Musician and illustrator!

From Dan’s bio at Crowded Comics:
“His work has appeared in publications including the City Pages and The Rake. When he’s not drawing, he plays music in a few local bands, and acquires more books than he has shelves for.”

He does rock posters!

From his website:
“Witt’s illustrations, paintings, and limited edition screen prints have been exhibited around the globe and reproduced in books and publications including The Art of Modern Rock, Gigposters Vol. 1, I Want Your Skull, German collective Bongout’s anthologies, and the series of graphic novels he’s illustrated for Lerner Publishing.

Gordon McAlpin
Creator of Multiplex! Illustrator guru!

From the Multiplex website:
“Multiplex is an online comic about the movie-loving and customer-weary staff of your local movie theater. It is written and illustrated by Gordon McAlpin. It has been running continuously since July 2005, and serves over 60,000 unique visitors per month (or over half a million per month).
