Last Minute Sushi Submission?

Fellow MN cartoonists: If you are planning on submitting a mini-comic for Lutefisk Sushi but don’t think you’ll make today’s deadline, don’t fear. We’ve received numerous emails from people just on the cusp of finishing, but who need a few more days.

If that sounds like you, please do the following:

1) Register yourself and your comic here: http://www.alteredesthetics.com/events/66/new_show_art

2) Email contact [at] alteredesthetics.org to let them know that you have a submission coming, and when.

3) Print up your 160 minis within the next week or so and get them to Altered Esthetics (1224 Quincy St NE, Mpls MN 55413) during their office hours (Tuesdays & Thursdays 1pm–7pm, Saturdays 1pm–5pm) or by mail.

As always, for more info go to:

MPLS Jam meeting is Thursday, June 3rd

Artist's Rendering

Dang!  Already?!  Thanks to returning Conspirator ATHENA CURRIER for the reminder!

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

Another NE Non-Profit asks Conspiracy to lend a hand on JUNE 12th!

NE MPLS non-profit day program ACCESSABILITY has asked the Cartoonist Conspiracy to help raise some money for them by joining in the activities of their 2nd ANNUAL  WALK AND ROLL-A-THON on SATURDAY JUNE 12th.  Much like the AE event, ACCESSABILITY will be providing keepsake 5″x7″ paper of the event for us to draw on, we just need to provide ourselves and our drawing tools.  The drawings will be donation caricatures for disabled adults and their families/staff…but hey, if someone asks for Spider-Man or something, who are we to say no?

The event runs from 9:30am to about 1pm and takes place at the NORTH MISSISSIPPI REGIONAL PARK.  Directions and all other information can be found at:  http://accessability.org/Walk/index.html

Need a Script for your Lutefisk Sushi Minicomic?

Lutefisk Sushi D is coming up fast, and many of you are no doubt racking your brains for an idea.  Check this out: local writer Jack Phinney (writer of F*** You Paris, Love Wagner, which appeared on the Big Time Attic Blog) has written an 8-page script just for this occasion.  He has declared that he will pay the printing and do the collating; it merely falls to you to draw the thing.

Give it a read, then if you’re interested, contact Jack at jack dot phinney at gmail dot com.

Neanderthals

MPLS Jam is Thursday, May 6th–a folk hero to be honored???

Just throwing this out there…..  Meet SVEN IVAN O’MYRON WISNEWSKI!  He was ‘Nordeast’ Minneapolis’ own multi-national, arm-rasslin’, polk music-lovin’ folk hero during the 1970’s.   Anyone want to tell his tale on Thursday?

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

“IRON AND CANDY” fundraiser for AE Friday–“Bad” Caricatures to be drawn

Just a reminder: The annual fundraiser for ALTERED ESTHETICS is this Friday, APRIL 30th.  Any Conspirators out there (whether you’ve already committed to being there or not) are welcome to come and draw “bad” caricatures for cash donations.  Or just come and take part in the fun and raise some money for a good cause–in fact all the money we raise doing caricatures will go towards the August LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘D’ show! (Oh, and SOME drawing supplies will be on hand, but if you feel like you need to bring your own “special” pens or whatever, that is encouraged.)

The good times begin at 7pm and run until midnight.   The good time include: an iron-and-candy themed exhibit, silent auction, raffle, DJ, live music, refreshments(booze!) and more!  Hope to see you there.

MCBA 25th Anniversary–cartoonists needed

Hey All–I know I just posted about AE’s need for cartoonists on the 30th, but our friends over at the MN CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS are having their 25th Anniversary  on June 26thand would like us to hang out and draw comics with the youth (middle/high school is the projected age group).  The event would run from 1-4pm, and unlike previous Book Arts things we did, this would not be a ‘class’ or anything, we’d just be hanging out and drawing and telling kids why comics are awesome and helping them make their own with our “HOW TO MAKE A MINI-COMIC” books and templates.

So, if you are interested please let me (Danno)  know either by replying here or emailing me if you are privy to that info.

  Thanks!
