10 Years of ICC-THE DOCUMENTARY

Hey all! After a weekend of watching music documentaries at the Sound Unseen festival, I got to thinking: someone should do a documentary on the I.C.C. And THEN I thought: that someone could be ME (and any of you)!
Then Danno pointed out to me that next December 2012 the I.C.C. turns 10 years old. What a perfect time to get one done!

So, I plan on documenting as many I.C.C. related shows, jams, book releases and whatever else may transpire between now and then. I would ALSO like to amass as much retrospective footage as I can. If anyone has video, photos, or I.C.C. history related stuff that they think might fit in, PLEASE CONTACT ME (burgy13@gmail.com).

I’m hoping this will become a team effort, so if you are interested in being a part of the production team, let me know as well. There will be an official meeting sometime soon which I will post here.

Thanks, I hope you will consider being part of this!

The LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST

Did you know there are now 4 episodes of the LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST available (both on the linked website and itunes)?

In the fourth episode host DANNO KLONOWSKI talks with MN cartoonist KEVIN CANNON about all his comics, their themes, and how they all led up to Cannon’s Eisner-nominated FAR ARDEN. Also, they talk about love. Sweet, sweet love.

Episode 5 will feature BOB LIPSKI and BRIAN BASTIAN and be available Thursday, October 20th.

Introducing: the LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST

Getting the jump on the LUTEFISK SUSHI E gun by a good 14 months, DANNO KLONOWSKI has started the LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST–An audio sampling of MN cartoonists!  Each episode will feature an interview with a different MN creator, starting with BUD BURGY on episode 1.  The hope is to talk to any and all MN cartoonists previously associated with the Lutefisk Sushi projects, as well as meet and talk with creators who have yet to participate.  Basically, the LUTEFISK SUSHI PODCAST is here to promote the creators of the rich and diverse MN cartooning scene.  Hope you love it…and hope to talk with you on it soon!

NORDEAST COMICS SUMMIT
Summary: Danno Klonowski gave the audience some good practical tips on how to collaborate successfully in the comics world as either an artist and/or writer. Best tip: if someone wants you to draw their comic and promises lots of money on the back end, run far, far away. As always, we videotaped the Summit, and those videos will be posted online eventually. Thanks to Danno for bringing this month’s refreshing cold beverages. That is not a requirement of Summit hosts, but if it becomes a trend I won’t be upset.

Coming up next!:
OCT. 6: Adrean Clark, “The Secret Language of People” – a look at body language & more in comics.
NOV. 3: Maxeem Konrardy, “Theft & Borrowing in Comics” – and the idea of how do you write something new in a world where everything’s already been written.
DEC. 1: Steven Stwalley & Kevin Cannon, “First Annual Holiday Comix Game Show!” – Jeopardy-style quiz show with comics-themed trivia. THERE WILL BE PRIZES!

If there’s a topic you’d like to see or even lead yourself, contact me at nordeastcomics [at] gmail.com. The next available date is January 5, 2012.

TOPIC: Bring Your Friends: The Art of Collaboration

MODERATOR: Danno Klonowski

DATE: Thursday, Sept 1, 2011

TIME: 6 – 6:30 pm (right before the Cartoonist Conspiracy Jam)
LOCATION: 1618 Central Ave NE, Ste. 216, Nordeast MPLS

For almost as long as DANNO KLONOWSKI has been making comics, he has been making them with others.  In the last 20 years Danno has worn just about every hat imaginable–plotter, writer, artist, inker, project spearheader, and every combination therein–and worked with a near-army of creators.  Needless to say, he’s learned quite a bit about the do’s and maybe-you-shouldn’t-do-that’s of collaboration.  So bring your friends and learn everything you should consider before collaborating.  You don’t want to end up enemies, right?

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Afterwards, please join us to draw some jam comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.
