VOTE for next year’s featured artist!

Here are the featured artist nominees for next year‘s comic art show. They are all awesome, and I wish they could all win, but…well, we have to choose just one. Voting will take place on the conspiracy message board. The poll will be open for 7 days.

Please only vote if you intend to participate in the project. Note that you do NOT have to be a resident of Minnesota to submit work to the 2013 project.

NOMINEES:

Britt Sabo
Bsabo.com
Xeric-winning cartoonist!

From her website:
“After graduating from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) in 2007, she went on to co-author and draw Francis Sharp in the Grip of the Uncanny! with her friend Anna Bratton. They were awarded a Xeric Grant in 2010 to publish this book, and are currently working on the next in the series.”

Dan Murphy
Murphycommadan.com
Musician and illustrator!

From Dan’s bio at Crowded Comics:
“His work has appeared in publications including the City Pages and The Rake. When he’s not drawing, he plays music in a few local bands, and acquires more books than he has shelves for.”

DWITT
Dwitt.com
He does rock posters!

From his website:
“Witt’s illustrations, paintings, and limited edition screen prints have been exhibited around the globe and reproduced in books and publications including The Art of Modern Rock, Gigposters Vol. 1, I Want Your Skull, German collective Bongout’s anthologies, and the series of graphic novels he’s illustrated for Lerner Publishing.

Gordon McAlpin

From the Multiplex website:

Register ASAP for the 2012 Twin Cities Book Festival

If you plan to attend this year’s Twin Cities Book Festival (October 13) put on by our friends at Rain Taxi, you will want to register NOW. They are almost out of space. From what I have heard, if you don’t attend this event, you will regret it. Fortunately, this year there is no conflict with Fallcon (October 6)! Apologies for not getting the word out on this very cool opportunity sooner.

Greetings from Rain Taxi and the 2012 Twin Cities Book Festival! As you may know, registration is now open for this year’s Book Fest–forms are available on our website, here. What you don’t know yet is that this year, one of our prestigious guests happens to be a comics GIANT. We can’t tell you who it is just yet, but we do anticipate a substantial comics audience to attend, and we want to make sure that the Conspiracy has a chance to register for tables before they run out. We’ve set aside more space for this purpose in our new location, to boot!

Register soon to claim your space. No need to send payment now—we’ll invoice you. We encourage you simply to email us with the requested information on the attachment to reserve a table, but you’re welcome to fax or mail your registration form if you prefer.

[Artist with ink]

Time to get drawing. Perhaps work on your Lutefisk Sushi contribution. Meet, talk and draw with a few of your fellow cartoonists at Minnesota Center for Book Arts. We’ll be at the coveted high tables, just past the MCBA store.

Hopefully there’ll be a coffee shop in the building for sandwiches, snacks and cold beverages. (There wasn’t one last month, but perhaps something has moved in since. If not, there’s a convenience store across the street for snacks.) There are handy outlets nearby for your electrical devices. Plus (again, hopefully) free, slow coffee-shop wi-fi.

Saturday, August 11, from noon until 4 p.m., Bindery (high tables)

This is an open studio — all are welcome.

Suit Up, then Sushi Up

The next Lutefisk Sushi E meeting will be held at Ae on Wednesday, August 15, at 8:30 pm, immediately after Suit Up–so why not go to both?
