Alan Moores ‘TWILIGHT’

I’m probably in the “last to know” category on this one, but…

I found out today from an article on the ONION’s AV CLUB (http://www.avclub.com/content/feature/primer_alan_moore) that in the late 80’s following the success of WATCHMEN Alan Moore was asked to construct and write a universe-spanning crossover for DC.

I think we all know that DC and Alan Moore went their seperate ways pretty soon thereafter, but not before he could write-up a pretty cool sounding synopsis–which can be found here:

Not surprisingly its pretty detailed and lengthy(it prints out at 19 pages).
Alan Moore–never the slacker.

Enjoy!

I recommend everyone do this.

And on a side note to my fellow Minnesotans– lets show the world that MINNEAPOLIS/St PAUL is INDEED a MECCA FOR CARTOONIST!!!

Random Winks at SPACE

In less than two weeks, there will be lots and lots of geeky guy cartoonists descending on Columbus (Yikes! What a messy mental image that is) with hundreds of kick-ass cool comics to sell; but here are a couple of local Central Ohio gals’ books that you’ll need to check out when you stop by the Sunday Comix table at S.P.A.C.E. on March 1 & 2.

The first is “Random Goodness” by Andrea McEnaney (creator of The Adventures of Chad Cleanly), featuring some of her best single panel gag comics. This great book of semi-absurdist humor can be yours for a measly $2.

The other book you need to keep your eye on is “Wink! Wink!” a short story by Symphony of the Universe artist & writer M.A.D. It’s a very different sort of story from her usual fare, but amusing and well worth you time and attention. “Wink! Wink!” is part of the newest PANEL anthology.

I ACTUALLY REMEMBERED!!!

HEY!
I just remembered!
In addition to doing pointless film reviews no one but Steinlicht reads,
I’m also supposed to remind citizens of the Minneapolis/St Paul area that our

MONTHLY JAM MEETING IS THURSDAY!!!!!

This month we’ll be doing a jam on the topic of “MINNEAPOLIS vs. ST PAUL”,
which will then be displayed in April at ALTERED ESTHETICS(the same fine gallery
which will host our LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘C’ show in May!).

Also, the original multi-pieced “EVIL EYE #1” will be there for–hopefully–a unified re-rendering of this modern classic.

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages.

Afterwards, we often(sometimes) have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted on our website sooner or later(later) and sometimes even printed(…well…).

In the back hallway.
If there are D&D nerds there they spook easily so tell’em to skeedaddle.

Bus info here.

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

Big Time Attic is now officially hosting our monthly jam meetings at Diamond’s… they will be supplying us with a big old plate of pastries or something each month. Thanks fellas!

See you Thursday!
