See LSE tomorrow!

Hey all, just a reminder that tomorrow (November 29th) is the closing date for the Lutefisk Sushi E gallery exhibition. If you haven’t stopped by Ae yet, tomorrow is your last chance to see the show. We’ll be open 1-7pm.

Lutefisk Sushi E boxes will still be available for purchase at Ae until we run out.

Here’s a snapshot of the LSE reading rack we set up for the show. Everything from the boxed set is on there, so even if you weren’t able to send in original art, your work was still represented in the group exhibition.

Spread the word! The Lutefisk Sushi Volume E opening is this Friday!

Lutefisk Sushi Volume E is a limited-edition, hand-silkscreened bento box of mini-comics created by over 35 Minnesota cartoonists (the boxes will be sold for $25 each… which is well under a buck a comic). It is the fifth set in an ongoing series started in 2004. The opening reception for the release of LSE is this Friday, November 2nd, at Altered Esthetics gallery from 7PM to 10PM.

Lutefisk Sushi Podcast

Our good friend Danno posted a new episode of the Lutefisk Sushi Podcast last week, this one starring Shad Petosky. If you haven’t heard it already, give it a listen. Shad talks about the origins of Lutefisk Sushi, and lots of other amazing/crazy/mind-blowing things!

Fishing for Caitlin

It was mentioned a few days ago that Xeric-winning cartoonist Caitlin Skaalrud finished her mini comic for submission (this Saturday! Still time….not much…but still time!)

Learn about the freshwater mermaids of the great lakes

She answered a few Lutefisk Sushi based questions a little while back to help any last minute’ers get inspired. Caitlin’s preferred cartoonist tools? “Copy paper. Lots of cheap copy paper. For inking, a couple of .03 Microns and two trusty Pentel Pocket brushes.”

her comic will end up being a great 24 pages long at King-Cat size (5.5″ by 8.5″)
and if any of you clicked on the link previously posted you would have seen how detailed each of those pages are going to be!
As far as advice? – “Don’t be afraid of making any mistakes. But fix them when
you figure it out. Draw first, edit second, and lay them out or hang them up when you’re flagging to see how far you’ve actually progressed before you succumb to the dangerous allure of Facebook or Tumblr.”

Take that social media! comics come first!!

LANCE WARD submits!

The deadline is but days away but there is still time to get a mini comic done and submitted. Here to inspire you is a  sample of the great Lance Ward’s submission –

Lance is creating a mini comic 8 ink filled pages long. His preferred tools are Sharpie marker pens and printer paper and when asked if he had any advise for other Lutefisk Sushi artists he said:
“Just go for it. Even if you think it sucks, follow through and finish”

He’s like the Yoda of mini comics!! Thanks Lance!
