Sunday Comix’s First Conspiracy Post

First, I’d like to thank Steven Stwalley for inviting me to join this wonderful Conspiracy. I see there’s a lot going on here and I’m happy to be a part of it. I’ll do what I can to be as active a member of the online Conspiracy community as possible.

Who am I? My name is Max Ink; I’m the founder and organizer of the Columbus, Ohio cartoonists’ group Sunday Comix . For my first post I wanted to puff my chest out a bit and share with you the ways that made 2007 a great year for our group in Columbus: our membership swelled to over a dozen regular members (who attend our once-a-month meetings), we hosted a fund raiser for the ACLU, we put on our first group gallery exhibit (there are plans for more in 2008) and our group members now have an open invitation to submit their work to a local monthly arts paper.

Just so ya know: Sunday Comix meets once a month (usually on the third Sunday) at the Upper Arlington Library from 2p-4p. We spend the first hour sharing our work and the second hour doodling Jams and afterwards, we usually hang out at a nearby eatery and chill.

Young American Comics: What’s In The Box?

Young American Comics (YAC), an indie comic publisher who is known for its large, open-invite, group projects such as The Big Ol’ Book of BIZMAR, is taking submissions for their sixth annual open-invite project.

This year YAC asks that contributors, “write and draw a two to six page comic that involves an unopened box with mystery contents. It can be any sort of box and a part of any type of story, as long as the contents of the box remain unknown to the reader.”

CCSF – ‘Graphic Novel’ art show opening in San Francisco

Note: the “Graphic Novel” art show which had it’s opening on Saturday (dec. 8th) was supposed to be up until jan. 4th, but a few “things” came up and the show had to be taken down. not that big of a deal, we had an awesome opening and were welcomed warmly by the people of frog hall. so for any of you out there who were planning on heading over to see the work, sorry you’ll have to wait until we are able to get the work up in another location…possibly some time after the new year. also i will be posting pictures of opening night on here as well as my myspace pages. thanks again to the staff of frog hall for having us and to everyone who came out to support us and the SF cartoonist conspiracy group.

"SON OF A BITCH!!!!" or "Come to Diamonds THURSDAY"

I DID IT AGAIN!!!!!

So…Steve asked me if I’d take over posting about the monthly jam since I’m “responsible” and “wouldn’t wait until the last minute” to post this.
…yeah….so just pretend its like Monday and not the day before the jam…

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwards, we often(sometimes) have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.
The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted on our website sooner or later(later) and sometimes even printed(…well…).

If there are D&D nerds there they spook easily so tell’em to skeedaddle.

Bus info here.

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

Big Time Attic is now officially hosting our monthly jam meetings at Diamond’s… they will be supplying us with a big old plate of pastries or something each month. Thanks fellas!

Reminder: San Francisco Cell at "Graphic Novel" on December 8th 2007

This coming Saturday December 8th three members of the Cartoonist Conspiracy-San Francisco are having their own gallery show, Graphic Novel, which will feature original comic book art. The show features original comic book art by the talented Mike Hales, Kraig Rasmussen, and Daniel Salcido. There will also be a mini comic book expo, and comic books created live before our very eyes. The group is inviting all cartoonists in the city for this so the live comic art should be really amazing. Free admission, all are welcome. Wine/ Beer, munchies, and music, so please come and enjoy, and please tell your friends.
