2nd St. Paul Comic Jam Comic Contest

Once again, we’re running a contest to determine the subject of the jam comic produced every third Thursday by the St. Paul cell of the International Cartoonist Conspiracy.

I’m asking anyone who cares to, to post a reply here suggesting a topic/title for the comic to be produced at the May 15, 2008 meeting. 

The week of the meeting, if any suggestions have been made, they’ll be put to a vote, and the winner will not only see their idea brought to life, but will be awarded the original jam comic pages, compliments of the city of St. Paul.

Past jam comic contest winner, Steven Stwalley, won with his entry ELEPHANTS IN UNDERPANTS . . . surely, you can do better than that.

The winner will be awarded their prize after it has been scanned for posterity and posted to the ICC site. If the winner is unable or unwilling to pick up their prize in person, it will be mailed to them at our expense.

The St. Paul cell is accepting entries until Monday May 12, when the voting begins.

Enter now, and may the best concept win.

Hey all. It’s time for another Comic Book Jam in San Francisco, the city by the bay. The Jam is this Thursday May 8, 2008. So grab your favorite drawing tools and head on down to the Church St. Café at 6:30 pm this Thursday and draw with us. We have had a great surge of new artist in the last couple of months and we want to keep to flow of talent flowing.

FIRST CRACK AT LUTEFISK SUSHI BOX/JAM THIS THURSDAY–MAY 1st–in MINNEAPOLIS

In addition to our usual antics, we will be distributing LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘C’ boxes to contributors at our monthly jam meeting this Thursday.

Boxes may also be picked up Friday May 2nd at the LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘C’ opening at Altered Esthetics, but this is your chance to get one a day early, read it, and then have something to talk about at the opening (not that cartoonists are socially backwards and NEED something pre-planned to talk about… but it helps).

Sadly, if you didn’t contribute you’ll have to wait until Friday to buy a box of your own (less than a hundred available to the public!).

So come on by, pick up your box, then stay around and draw for a while.

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

CCSF Valentines Jam Comic

Last month a few folks did not have romantic evenings planned got together to do a Comic Jam on Valentines Day. Each page had to have the same prop, a box of candy, and some of us tried to very our drawing style every panel. We also each drew half a page and each page is a contained story.
