SCHMAPPLES remembered on AINT’T IT COOL
AINT IT COOL posted their yearly comic “oscars”. And while most “awards” didn’t venture too far out of the mainstream, one particular area should be of interest to the Cartoonist Conspiracy Community:
Our dearly missed Eric “Schmapples” Lappegard was noted in their comic creators lost in 2007. section.
Garfield without Garfield
So, this is a disturbing reenvisioning of the old Garfield strip. With Garfield taken out, John’s personality quirks become more troublesome. Genius?

St. Paul Cell Meeting Tonight
The St. Paul cell of the International Cartoonist Conspiracy will meet again tonight, Thursday, February 21, 6:30 PM at:
Cosmic’s Coffee 189 N. Snelling Avenue St. Paul, MN 55104
This month, the St. Paul conspirators left their jam comic topic up to anyone who cared to contribute one. Only five brave souls dared submit an idea to a vote to determine what the St. Paul cell will draw at this month’s meeting.
So far, “Elephants in Underpants” has captured the heart of America, and looks to ride its momentum to victory. The person with the winning idea will be awarded the original artwork from the resulting jam comic.
There’s still time to vote by following this elephantine link:

The meeting is open to all who wish to attend.
Apologies to Chinatsu Ban.
