MIX 2010 poster

The MIX posters and flyers have been printed!  Wanna help distribute them?

I’ll bring MIX promo materials to the ICC meeting on Thursday and I’ll leave them in my car at the LSD opening on Friday (but I’ll go get ’em if you ask — no problem).  So if you want to help us distribute, please do!  The flyers advertise MIX on one side and the after-party on the other side.  Danno made the after-party flyer — thank you, Danno!!!

You can find more ways to promote MIX on the Press page of our site: http://mplsindiexpo.com/press/

We won’t get postcards until next week, unfortunately, but when they come we will have MANY MANY postcards to mail out.  If you want a pile of those — or if you’d like to send us addresses or if you have access to a killer mailing list — let me know!  We’ll have 1000 postcards in need of homes quite soon.

Thanks!

Thursday August 5th MPLS jam kicks-off “CARTOONIST MONTH IN MN”

Cartoonists know nothing of this so-called "footed ball"

We are taking over, and it all begins here.

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffeinated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffeinated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe
1618 Central Avenue Northeast
Minneapolis, Minnesota

Bus info here.

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

City Pages Comix Issue :: SLIGHT EXTENSION

Hey, everybody!

As was announced last week, the 2010 City Pages Comix Issue will debut on Wednesday, August 11th in anticipation of the Minneapolis Indie Xpo happening on Saturday, August 21st.

We’re offering a slight extension so you have extra time to polish your work.

Please submit your CP Comix Issue images by Tuesday, August 3rd.  We’re meeting to review submissions on Wednesday, so we can only accept submissions ’til Tuesday.

So breathe a sigh of relief.  You have an extra day.

Thanks to all the great cartoonists who have emailed their submissions so far!

If you haven’t even started yet, details about the City Pages Comix Issue can be found on the MIX website HERE.  (Hint: we could use more quarter-sized comics.)

xo,
Sarah Morean

MPLS jam THURSDAY, JULY 1st–Brits to ruin holiday weekend(s)

It’s taken over 200 years, but Britain has finally figured out a way to pay America back for that insurrection thingy we did.  Yessir, every America (legal or otherwise–and earthlings in general, really) will be feeling the effects of this “spill” for generations to come…since there is a pretty good chance it’ll be leaking that long.  So if your name is JAMES POWELL you may not want to come to the jam this Thursday, or man oh man will there be a patriotic beating!!!  (Wait! No! Show up, James!  A beating in the name of misguided patriotism will land us on Bill O’Reilly for sure!  That’s great press!)
