THE COMIC BLITZ TOURNAMENT
by Andrey Feldshteyn

The name for the action is Blitz Tournament.

The rules are simple:

Somebody (usually not the contestant) chooses a topic.
It could also be taken randomly from any book.

People make their bets to create the prize fund.
If we speak about 25c per person, then the winner
could buy a bottle of beer at the end!

Everybody has only 10 min to realize the subject.
Participants can create comics, gag cartoons or even
poetry or aphorisms (as many as they want).

In 10 min we circle the samples around, and everybody
writes down his mark. There are only 3 grades:
nothing, 1 cross, 2 crosses (no negative grades!).
Then somebody counts the crosses and announces the
Cartoon Genius of the day! Who's collecting the money
and becoming crazy till the end of the evening.

This is an excellent training for gag cartoonists,
wich we practiced for years back in S. Petersburg.
A professional cartoonist should create 40 cartoons a
day according Robert Mankoff from New Yorker. So if
you can create 5 drawings in 10 minutes, you are very
close.  :)
