What a great way to celebrate the winter Holiday(s).<\/p>\n<p>To start with the <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Animation Gallery<\/span> at the museum has been re-located to the back area and is now joined by an HD monitor to show animation thanks to a generous donation.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">The news below is taken from the museums newsletter.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>1. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Peanuts Holiday Parade: A Celebration of the Art of Charles M. Schulz<\/span><br \/>November 24, 2006 through March 18th, 2007<\/p>\n<p>The Cartoon Art Museum kicks off the holiday season with Peanuts Holiday<br \/>Parade:  A Celebration of the Art of Charles M. Schulz, featuring 20<br \/>original Peanuts comic strips from the Cartoon Art Museum&#8217;s permanent<br \/>collection, including a special selection of holiday-themed strips<br \/>featuring Snoopy in his classic Santa\/Bell-Ringer guise.<\/p>\n<p>2. Tuesday, December 5, 2006, 7:00-9:00pm<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Pet Noir Book Release Party<\/span> &#8211; Free and open to the public<br \/>The Cartoon Art Museum and Manic D Press are pleased to celebrate the<br \/>release of Pet Noir:  An Anthology of Strange But True Pet Crime<br \/>Stories, conceived and edited by Shannon O\u00c2\u2019Leary and drawn by today\u00c2\u2019s<br \/>finest comic book artists, this innovative, compassionate illustrated<br \/>anthology sheds fur on some of the most peculiar animal offenses in<br \/>recent headlines and examines our individual relationships with animals<br \/>in true stories of oddly humorous and heartbreaking personal pet crimes.<br \/> O&#8217;Leary and 11 artists will be on hand to greet fans, sign books and<br \/>celebrate the release of Pet Noir.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">A portion of the profits from the sales of Pet Noir will be donated to <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">the Animal Legal Defense Fund (www.aldf.org), which protects and <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">advances the interests of animals through the legal system.  This <\/span><br \/><span style=\"font-style: italic;\">special event is free and open to the public.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>3. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cartooning Workshop:  Design 101 with Jon &#8220;Bean&#8221; Hastings<\/span><br \/>Saturday, December 9, 20061:00-4:00pm<br \/>Cost per individual class:  $50; $40 for CAM members<\/p>\n<p>The latest installment of our ongoing series of workshops for aspiring<br \/>comic artists, writers and fans of all ages features Jon &#8220;Bean&#8221;<br \/>Hastings, creator of the comic Smith Brown Jones:  Alien Accountant ,<br \/>the children&#8217;s book Terrabella Smoot and the Unsung Monsters as well as<br \/>the current artist on Disney&#8217;s Haunted Mansion comic.  Hastings will teach<br \/>students how to create and design a character, layout a page and prep<br \/>artwork for printing.<\/p>\n<p>4. Sunday December 10, 2007, 1pm to 3pm<br \/><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Cartoonist in Residence: David Kellett<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">Draw Me A Possum: 63 Ever-Lovin&#8217; Blue-Eyed Years of Pogo<\/span><br \/>Tuesday, December 12, 2006, 7:00pm to 9:00pm<br \/>$5 General Admission, FREE for Cartoon Art Museum Members<\/p>\n<p>In conjunction with current exhibition Draw Me A Story:  A Century of<br \/>Children&#8217;s Book Illustration, the Cartoon Art Museum is proud to host a<br \/>special presentation by three authorities on the life and artwork of<br \/>beloved cartoonist and children&#8217;s book creator Walt Kelly and his most<br \/>famous creation, Pogo.  Pogo aficionados Mark Burstein, Scott Daley and<br \/>Steve Leialoha will discuss Kelly&#8217;s impact on the comics medium and the<br \/>world at large.  Original artwork, rarely-seen publications and other<br \/>Pogo ephemera will be exhibited during this special presentation. <br \/>Please join us for an evening of personal anecdotes, an appreciation of<br \/>Kelly&#8217;s children&#8217;s books and his lesser-known comics and a unique<br \/>discussion of one of the most talented cartoonists of the 20th century.<\/p>\n<p>6. <span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">i, Mascot: A costumed travelogue by Michael Capozzola<\/span><br \/>Tuesday, December 19, 2006 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm<br \/>Tickets: $10 ($5 for CAM members)<\/p>\n<p>The Cartoon Art Museum presents i, Mascot, an evening of Cartoon and<br \/>Comedy with comedian (and cartoonist) Michael Capozzola.  Part stand-up comedy and part<br \/>cartoon travelogue recounting Capozzola&#8217;s 4-month PR road-trip across<br \/>the United States on the eve of the collapse of the economy at the tail<br \/>end of the dot.com era.  Four months and 17,000 miles in a mascot<br \/>costume yielded photos, drawings, stories and anecdotes providing comic<br \/>insight into the effects of marketing to various regions of the country<br \/>and the resulting misunderstandings that occurred on the road.
