Presentation At Big Time Attic! (The UN-official Nordeast Comics Summit)

My fellow Conspirators…

My friend and web guru, Kristianna Hansen has been working her fingers to the bone to present to you a new way to present your webcomics, and other comics material in different formats through her “RyuZine” program which she will be presaenting at Big Time Attic on  Thursday, August 2 at 6:00!  Here’s what she has to say about her program:

Ryuzine™ is a page-flipping magazine-style web app targeting both desktop and mobile users.  It uses cutting-edge HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript technologies with no DRM, no apps stores, and no proprietary e-reader required.  Create and deliver digital magazines, newsletters, fanzines, and webcomics through any website across platforms, browsers, and devices.  Publish once, read anywhere.
+ FREE download, add-ons, and themes
+ FREE Authoring webapp
+ FREE Plugin for WordPress integration
+ FREE to use for non-commercial publications
+ Works on Desktops, Tablets, and Phones
Sample stand-alone webcomic: http://www.ryumaru.com/library/sa-bomjim/
Disclaimer: Ryuzine is still “beta” software and may aim to misbehave, but is receiving ongoing fixes and feature additions.  Commercial use requires purchase of a small, one-time license per title.  Funds go to support continued development and improvement of the webapp.
It promises to be a great informative event!  I have seen this program in action, and I think a lot of people would benefit from what Kristi has to share with us!  Come on down before the jam at 6:00pm at Big Time Attic to check it out!

  1. Jon, thanks for the enthusiastic sales pitch!

I also plan to talk about the various other options for delivering indie publications to mobile platforms like the iPad, iPhone, Android, etc., however I created Ryuzine because I saw technical and financial barriers to truly independent creators trying to reach one of the most important publishing outlets of our time with an engaging “app experience” rather than just a plain web site or PDF file. Whether you’re part of the “fold & staple” crowd, posting comics to a blog, or even doing a fanzine there’s something in this for you.

FYI, there is a major update in the works for this webapp right now which may even be ready for public launch by the 2nd. Hope to see you there!

  2. Please, why isn’t the Minneapolis August Jam posted? I was dying to see it. It’s the Jam about Agent Queen Elizabeth and Michael Phelps and the olympics. Please find it and post it? Please?
