Archive for April, 2010
Just a reminder: The annual fundraiser for ALTERED ESTHETICS is this Friday, APRIL 30th. Any Conspirators out there (whether you’ve already committed to being there or not) are welcome to come and draw “bad” caricatures for cash donations. Or just come and take part in the fun and raise some money for a good cause–in fact all the money we raise doing caricatures will go towards the August LUTEFISK SUSHI ‘D’ show! (Oh, and SOME drawing supplies will be on hand, but if you feel like you need to bring your own “special” pens or whatever, that is encouraged.)
The good times begin at 7pm and run until midnight. The good time include: an iron-and-candy themed exhibit, silent auction, raffle, DJ, live music, refreshments(booze!) and more! Hope to see you there.5 comments

The deadline for submissions is Monday, August 9, 2010. Please refer to the site’s FAQ and GUIDELINES sections for clarification on some changes to this year’s Comix Issue. We hope that by tweaking a few key things, we can have a truly excellent print and online edition this year that highlights much of the area’s top cartooning talent. I hope you’ll agree. More importantly, I hope you’ll make the time to participate!
This year’s theme: declaration of independence. Write about whatever makes you feel independent!
You have 107 days to go. Can’t wait to see what you all come up with!No comments

Hey All–I know I just posted about AE’s need for cartoonists on the 30th, but our friends over at the MN CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS are having their 25th Anniversary on June 26thand would like us to hang out and draw comics with the youth (middle/high school is the projected age group). The event would run from 1-4pm, and unlike previous Book Arts things we did, this would not be a ‘class’ or anything, we’d just be hanging out and drawing and telling kids why comics are awesome and helping them make their own with our “HOW TO MAKE A MINI-COMIC” books and templates.
So, if you are interested please let me (Danno) know either by replying here or emailing me if you are privy to that info.
Hey MPLS/STPL Conspirators:
Our good friends at ALTERED ESTHETICS are having their annual fundraiser on FRIDAY, APRIL 3oth. I know I’ve already spoken to some of you, but AE is looking to the CONSPIRACY to do some “BAD” caricatures for fun and AE profit (and no, they don’t have to be bad–they can be WONDERFUL, in fact!–this is just our way of covering our own butts so nobody gets cheesed). So if you are interested in drawing for a good cause, either leave a reply here or email me (Danno). Thanks!3 comments

Join the St. Paul Cartoonist Conspiracy Cell and create a jam comic at our NEW MEETING PLACE, Cahoots Coffee! This NEW VENUE provides us with not only a spacious room in the back of the shop, but also they have tasty mediterranean food for sale!
The jamming is easy and it’s a fun time! Just bring some drawing utensils, an idea for the jam, and a few bucks to get a tasty beverage or some chow — don’t forget to tip, the baristas really do appreciate that!
The jam will start promptly at 6:30 and run until 10:30 at the latest. Come earlier to reserve your space! Seating can be limited at times!
The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results will be posted here at some date yet to be determined.
To join us come to:

More not than often we head on over to grab a brew at:
