7000 BC joins up with the ICC

7000 BC has joined the Conspiracy!

Sweet 7000’s Baaadassss Comics [7000 BC] is a Northern New Mexico-based nonprofit providing opportunities for comics writers and artists to develop their personal styles and storytelling “voices,” while promoting an understanding of the cultural significance of comic art through seminars and workshops. 7000 BC members are a diverse group whose work ranges from “traditional” comics fare to autobiographical to truly experimental.

Information on monthly meetings, educational programs, upcoming conventions, and other news is posted at the 7000 BC Web site and members’ work is available at the 7000 BC store.

New members from Central and Northern New Mexico (Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Espanola and beyond) are always welcome.

Send an email for more information. Or just to say hi.

Kansas City Cell Slideshow

ccn slideshow

This 5-minute slideshow covers the Comic Creators Network of Kansas City from 2002 through 2006, and includes photos from sketchbook parties, coffeeshop gatherings, comicbook art shows, CCN convention tables, and 24-hour-comic events. As a new cell to the ICC, I thought this slideshow would sort of introduce us to everyone.

Its a youtube.com video…so click here to view the streaming video right now….

Creative Commons Launches Tool to Reclaim Your Old Copyrights

There is an interesting post on Boing Boing today regarding the Creative Commons new “Termination of Transfer” tool for regaining old copyrights.

“Creative Commons has a new “Termination of Transfer” tool that could change the way that copyrights work in America forever. If you’re a creator who’s signed over your copyrights, the law lets you get them back from your publisher, label or studio 35 years later, no matter what your contract says. However, the process for reclaiming your rights is incredibly complicated, so practically no one can take advantage of it.”

This tool is intended to change that situation. Hopefully it will be used by many, many cartoonists who want to reprint old work, but who lost the rights for whatever reason. Read more about it at the link.

Jam in Minneapolis this Thursday, January 4th

The Minneapolis Cartoonist Conspiracy meets at 6:30 until 10:00 the first Thursday of every month at Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe in Northeast.

Generally, we draw collaborative “jam” comics, socialize and drink caffienated beverages. Afterwords, we often have uncaffienated beverages somewhere else.

The meetings are open to anyone who wants to draw with us, and the results are posted here sooner or later (and sometimes even printed).

Diamond’s Coffee Shoppe
1618 Central Avenue Northeast
Minneapolis, Minnesota

Bus info here.

Please spend some money at Diamond’s while you’re there, even if it is just a cuppa coffee… they are excellent hosts, and we wanna stay welcome there.

Big Time Attic is now officially hosting our monthly jam meetings at Diamond’s… they will be supplying us with a big old plate of pastries or something each month. Thanks fellas!
