Kevin Cannon. Danno Klonowski. Eric Lappegard. David
Steinlicht. Adam Wirtzfeld. Ken Avidor. Steve
Stwalley. Zander Cannon. Maxeem Konrardy. Vas
Littlecrow. Bob Lipski. Curtis Square Briggs. Mike
Owens. Sarah Prentice. Tommy Allison. Earl Luckes. Dan
Frye. Jake Kujava. Cathy Johnson. Carl Sitler. James
C. Anna Pratt. Kevin McCarthy. Charles Pechonick. Andy
Sturdevant. Damian Sheridan. Brad Burroughs. Michael Furious. Craig Ede. Leslie Powell.
Look on these names with pride.
Just LOOK at them!
On Saturday they will just be children.
By 10am on Sunday...they will be really tired and half-crazed children.
Anyway, the biggest news of note is we will be getting some free coffee to start the day. About enough for everyone to get one cup.
>25<23 participant Eric Lappegard has arranged for his place of employment SIP(34 13th. ave. ne. in the Keg House, right by the library)to set us up with the java. THANKS ERIC! THANKS SIP!
And if SIPs greatly appreciated contribution isnt enough coffee for you, theres a whole coffee shop in Book Arts.
PIZZA LUCE has also offered us some kind of discount! All we have to do at the next Conspiracy meeting is make them an ad! Cross-promotion! SWEET!!!
Parking: Like I stated before, there is a small lot for Book Arts(car-pooling is a good thing) and Grumpys parking lot where they could tow you if they felt like it(but I doubt it), but Big Brain owner Michael Drivas has this to add:
"...the meters along 3 street behind Open Book are only $0.25 per hour and you can load up 10 hours at a
time. The are enforced 9am-10 pm everyday but a person could get by with paying $3.50 to park from 9 am saturday to 10 am sunday and only have to feed the meter 3 times."
The rest of this is old news, but here ir is anyway.
SEE YOU SATURDAY!----danno
We're gunna put together another 24 HOUR
MINI-COMICS BOX following the event. Unlike previous
years, we will NOT be going to Kinkos immediatly
following the event to print them up and put the boxes
in order.
Instead you're going to have until OCTOBER 5th to
print your book up. On OCTOBER 5th, we will be having
our regular monthly meeting at DIAMONDS, but it will
also be a collating event, so we have boxes to sell a
couple days later at FALLCON!
So what you need to do between the end of the 24
hour event and OCTOBER 5th is print up at least 100
copies of your 24 hour story(there are 100 boxes to
fill, but feel free to make any extra copies for
yourself).
All books need to be no bigger than standard zine
size (5.5"x8.5") to be able to fit in the boxes.
Boxes will be sold to participants for 50 cents
each, but more expensive to the public. Profits go to
a good cause or something.
OH! and if you have any quick box printing methods
to share, or are willing to print up 100 sticky-back
copies of the official flyer(or a jam cover to be done
during the 24 hour event, as if we won't be busy
enough) for the box cover, let me know.
Wet Paint will be there to offer you paper, pens,
brushes, pencils, rulers, etc. It also sounds like we
get a "care package" from them. They are far too kind,
so lets give them our support next saturday. And if
you aren't working with the Pentel Pocket Brush, that
will be the time to pick one up!
don't forget: BRING A TREAT TO SHARE WITH YOUR
FELLOW CARTOONISTS!(Because nothing goes together
better than sitting and your butt, and a potluck of
snacks) _________________ "good old nostradamus, he knew the whole damn time there'd always be an east from west and someone in a fight"

HEY---we're going "POT LUCK" style!!!
If you're coming to the event, bring a snack treat to share with your fellow cartoonists.
bring CHIPS!
bring NUTS!
bring CRACKERS!
bring CHEESE!
bring FRUIT!
bring BEER!
bring something, cause nothing goes together better than unsupervised snacking while you sit on your ass for 24 hours straight. _________________ "good old nostradamus, he knew the whole damn time there'd always be an east from west and someone in a fight" |

Some items of note:
-The rules of doing a 24 hour comic (or a >23 and <25 hour comic) are here... if you are participating, YOU SHOULD READ THESE IN ADVANCE!!! Here is an informative FAQ as well.
-Carpool, bus or bike there if possible, as parking is limited, and can be expensive around there if you have to pay for it.
-Bring some food to share and at least five bucks to make sure you don't starve. It sounds like Danno has lined up a discount for us on Pizza Luce.
-Have a ride home arranged from someone who has not stayed up all night, as sleep deprivation leads to crappy driving.
-You'll most likely be able to participate even if you show up at the last minute, although those who register in advance will have a priority for space (even if they show up late). However, we would greatly appreciate if you would let us know in advance if you plan to participate.
-Wet Paint is supplying us with some cool supplies to use, but you'll still want to bring your own so you have everything you need.
-If you are participating in the 24 hour event, you no doubt will feel extremely grateful to the Minnesota Center for Book Arts for providing us with such an excellent space to do this in. Well, guess what? You can (and should) thank them by showing up on the 30th to participate in the special jam we are doing for their Wayzgoose fundraising event. Read more below!
-The cool poster for the event by Bob Lipski (thanks Bob!) can be downloaded here. Reproduce and post it as you will. |

Ken,
Here are your instructions.
Bring food and beverages to share. And water for yourself alone.
Bring money.
Park your car (or bike).
Spend money on pens and paper at the event.
Spend money on pizza and mock duck sandwiches.
Don't pester Kevin Cannon.
Draw for 24 hours.
Go home!

Okay smartguys....
SCHNICKEYS!!! One day to go, and we're up to 33 participants.
I was going to give a speech here about the vines of history producing lots of brave and noble fruits, but instead I'll make sure I mention:
The 3rd Annual Cartoonist Conspiracy's Less Than 25 But More Than 23 Hour Sequential Art Event begins
PROMPTLY at 10am tomorrow, and ends 10am Sunday(no exceptions--unless you're Ninja Turtle co-creator)!!
It takes place at the MN CENTER FOR BOOK ARTS.
1011 Washington Ave S., suite 100, Mpls, MN 55415
We'll be setting up between the gallery/book store and the bindery area.
As I stated before, there are 32 people doing this, so showing up by 9:45 is probably a good idea. Attendance will not be taken, but I sure hope you can all make it as its quite a bit of fun!
Please bring a snack (or beer--KEN!) to share, some sort of large scale water container for yourself, and, if you're Kenvin Cannon, some headphones so you can be a complete social leper.
Pizza Luce will cut us a deal, but we wont be doing that until later--like around midnight--so bring some cash to eat(if all the snacks we bring aren't sustenance enough). Grumpys serves a mean Mock Duck BBQ sandwich.
Also have cash on hand so we can support our good friends at WET PAINT ART SUPPLIES who will be there helping us(and selling supplies like the world famous PenTel Pocket Brush).
IF you have any questions about HOW DO I DO a 24 hour comic, see the official rules at:
www.24hourcomics.com
Carpool, bus or bike there if possible, as parking is limited, and can be expensive around there if you have to pay for it.
A good suggestion from Steven Stwalley: Have a ride home arranged from someone who has not stayed up all night, as sleep deprivation leads to crappy driving.
If you are participating in the 24 hour event, you no doubt will feel extremely grateful to the Minnesota Center for Book Arts for providing us with such an excellent space to do this in. Well, guess what? You can (and should) thank them by showing up on the 30th to participate in the special jam we are doing for their Wayzgoose fundraising event.
So, I think thats it. If you have any questions I'll be online until 3pm, after that contact me(danno) at
612-788-1788
GROOVY!!!!! I will see Kevin Cannon. Danno Klonowski. Eric Lappegard. David Steinlicht. Adam Wirtzfeld. Ken Avidor. Steve Stwalley. Zander Cannon. Maxeem Konrardy. Vas Littlecrow. Bob Lipski. Curtis Square Briggs. Mike Owens. Sarah Prentice. Tommy Allison. Earl Luckes. Dan Frye. Jake Kujava. Cathy Johnson. Carl Sitler. James C. Anna Pratt. Kevin McCarthy. Charles Pechonick. Andy Sturdevant. Damian Sheridan. Brad Burroughs. Michael Furious. Craig Ede. Leslie Powell. Peter Groynom. Phil Redmon. and Tone Redmon tomorrow!!!
THANKS SIP!
